No, you cannot upload multiple disconnected parts in a single 3D file on our Materialise Manufacturing platform, you will receive an error message.
In order to continue your ordering process, please upload each separate model in a separate file.
Reason for not allowing grouped models
We do not allow ordering grouped models because this can lead to incorrect price calculations but more importantly to problems in production and shipment. Our ordering system would register one position to be post-processed and shipped, whereas in reality a different amount of parts would have to be handled, making controlled post-processing and shipment processes impossible.
Tip for ordering identical shells
The most economic option of ordering several identical shells is to upload one shell and set the amount to the desired number of copies. The price per model will automatically decrease for most materials, mainly because the preparation of multiple copies can be carried out more efficiently.
Connected parts
For a few specific materials we do allow uploading parts with are connected to each other to make one model (interlocking, sprued or in a grid container). They can be ordered in the Normal finishes of PA12 (SLS) , PA12 (MJF), PA-AF, PA-GF and Polypropylene. Whenever we detect that connected models have been ordered in any other material, the order is canceled and you are contacted.
