Is it possible to get a rough price estimate before I have a 3D file?

Unfortunately, no. You will always need to upload a 3D print onto our platform in order to see a price and generate a quote.

That being said, if you have an idea of what the measurements of your piece, try creating a cuboid shape of the desired size in a free program, such as SketchUp. By uploading this simplified model you will get a first estimate of what price range this shape is in. Of course, please be aware that most prices are also based on the part volume. If the real model that you have in mind has much less volume that the cuboid, then the real printing price will be lower than the first estimate.

You can get a 3D file through 3D scanning, designing something from scratch in your favorite 3D design tool or hiring a 3D designer to do the modeling for you. For more options on how to get a 3D file, you might be interested in the article: What If I Don't Have a 3D File?
